  2. Tim Gormley says:

We’re enjoying a blizzard today as well. You can’t be too far from Prince Edward Island, Canada. Either that or it’s just nice and stormy everywhere. :) I’m going to get our digital camera and take some pics for you. I’ll be back.

    Take care.

    Tim

  3. Tim Gormley says:

I was going to link to my pictures with some thumbnails but bloggers refusal to let me post them informed me otherwise.

Oh well. I’ll just post the links to my stormed in on PEI Pics.

The first one is the ice that forms on our window every winter. It eventually becomes a complete wall of ice. The street lights shining through it are simply beautiful.

    http://www.timgormley.ca/images/uploads/ice.jpg

The second one is just a picture of the storm from our back door. Nothing too exciting, just snow covered neighbors. :)

    http://www.timgormley.ca/images/uploads/snow.jpg

Hope you enjoy them, and I also hope to see you performing on Prince Edward Island again. We so rarely get to see performers on our quiet little Island.

    Take care.

    Hey Melissa,
Its so cold here. But no snow. Last week I was in North Carolina, and I got my hair wet, and my hair was frozen..hehe
I just wanted to thank you for everything you have done. You have inspired me to take up bass lessons, photography, and writing music. And I want to thank you so much for being in The Pumpkins. For replacing D’arcy, and letting The Smashing Pumpkins continute on for another year. Without you, there would have been no tour,or than mind blowing final Metro show.Even though I did not know of The Pumpkins at that point* I was like 8* I have audio of the show; and I must say it brings me to tears everytime I hear it.Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting The Pumpkins live on for another year. Us fans are truly thnkful for you. Oh and p.s. your work in Hole is uber cool.

it’s so wonderful to see these updates, Melissa.

I love the snow. I figure, if it’s gotta be cold, it may as well snow! I had a wonderful Christmas; all year it didn’t snow and then Christmas morning the snow was just fallin’ like crazy. It was a wonderful gift. And we just got some more snow here in IL, as well, which is lovely.

Speaking of which, I think I’m going to go play in it :)

Good luck with the album, and we’re desperately awaiting it!

  6. Cat says:

As a Floridian…I must say these are the times when we don’t bitch and whine about our hot humid weather. The snow is beautiful, but wearing all those layers for an extended period of time would drive me nuts. Anyway, hey Melissa, this is Cat. We met in the first gig of the Curiosa tour and then back in Fort Lauderdale. (Denise’s friend…I run Kim’s site if you recall). I had such a great time that day, eating ice cream and walking around. Not to mention the show, which kicked ass. I wanted to drop by and say that it’s great that you’re learning the ropes of the net. Ahhh…did you ever get to listen to the Mashed Potatoes cd’s? You must! Great winter music I might add. Much deserved luck for this new year and new music. Love, Cat

  7. Doctor Rock says:

It’s difficult for me to imagine what the snow must be like, especially when out here on the perimiter it’s been 30 celcius by midday every day for a months.

  8. The Mango Kid says:

it was crazy here in toronto, the snow was nuts, and i fucking hate the winter, its freaking cold, and snowy, and the wind was nuts, but it should be alright by tommorow

  9. Topin says:

I was kind of sad reading about snow, whiteness and snow blindness yesterday… We have not got a single snowflake here in good ol’ Belgium since THIS MORNING!!!
Yippie, my winter season starts officially here!

By the way, hi Melissa, My name is Luca (I DO live on the second floor) and I hope your winter is just as chilling :)

  10. GnomeluvsMadM says:

unfortunatly its 35c and very sunny Oz wether is good for the beach but we miss out on the pureness of snow

  11. xxx says:

Oh, yeah I’m another one that has never ever seen how snow seems to be. The coldest day we have over here is something like almost 0ºC to 12ºC.

And… well I’ll try to read by candle’s light, I’ve been wanting to do this a long time but never found some ‘cool’ situation.

So if you read all your comments, could I ask what books are your favorites?! ;) well do you like Edgar A. Poe… well he’s really nice!

God bless you girl, you’re nice! []‘s!

  12. IceShaft says:

Living in south Italy, where we don’t know what snow is, and reading such stories of cold, snow, freezing wind, etc.. i realize how hard winter can be in places like Canada but at the same time it can be so beautiful and magic, something i’ve never seen.

  13. xAriannex says:

i wish i had snow blindness. we’ve been promised snow in the east of England but sadly we just recieved sleet (very rainy sleet at that) and about 30 seconds of snow. But we’re promised snow tomorrow and hopefully we’ll get some, so my dog can play around in it and make his feet look like they’re gigantic snow balls! and then maybe i could do some sketches of the snow.
You’re so lucky having so much snow! Good luck in your photography and music this year x

I love winter and snow. Candle light, a fireplace and a good book…

  15. Dauthus says:

The magic of Canadian winter… It’s quite strange how people can be all hung up on their technology and their light-hearted amusements. The art of reading a book, or just plain living without a computer, TV or electricity for that matter, has long been lost on those without imagination. :)
I miss winter. And Canada. But all in due time… Some tea and a book awaits me.

  16. Four says:

hmm… there’s no snow or exreme cold in Izmir, my town in Turkey:) so all i can say is light your creativity candle:) enjoy the blizzard:P all other people who has it too…

    Ooh, blizzards! Fun to observe.

I should scan my “snow pictures” when I get them developed. Snow is pretty, until the snow plows/sand machines come around and make everything dirty.

  19. Jaline says:

    Hey Melissa!

It’s snowy here in Ottawa too right now. It’s been really cold for the past three weeks, but I’m pretty much used to it by now.

I love your music, by the way. You’re amazing.

  20. trickyricky says:

Hey there Melissa! I have to start of saying that I really do think you are the cat’s pyjamas! That said, we here in San Francisco are enjoying bright sunshine in the latter half of January! Still, where in the North East are you? I thought I read somewhere that you lived in Joshua Tree California. Still, one can’t believe everything one reads, now can one?

At least some of us still read, evolution or not, eh?

Your gig here in March at Slims was epic, but I was disappointed about the cancelled HIM gig, still that wasn’t your fault. You should have been the head line act anyway.

Still, it sucked the big weinie!

Please come back soon and say ‘hi.’

I was actually in the UK during New Year’s as well. Did it kick off or wot? I had such a blinding time with me ol’ mates that it should have been illegal. Wasn’t it a good vibe over there this year? I took it as a positive sign, seeing as most of 2004 was bollocks.

    Apart from you that is.

    Hope to see you soon.

    ‘Someday, eh?’

    Da Rixter

  21. TrixieBelden says:

wooo hoooo! I like the picture of you on the horse in the previous entry. I hope you keep updating! It’s great to know what’s going on with you. You are what I aspire to be musically, really…I’ve only been playing bass for about a year but I strive to rock out like you!!

  22. starryxnitez says:

    hey melissa.
    how’s it goin?
it’s good that you’ve set something like this up.
anyway just wanted to stop by and say hi.
it was nice meeting you a couple times last year and the show and instore were cool.
hope to see/speak to ya soon.
    ps.
    i like the lil poem.
oh and steve still owes me a cd. (heh)
    see ya.

  23. something witty says:

I like the insane amounts of snow. I walked in the storm for a bit. No reason why, really. And today I had to walk in the slush to a friend’s house. There’s something more appealing about insane winds over grey slush. Fucking freeezing, but more appealing.

I want a digicam. Baddddd. I’m a whore for technology and convienience.

  24. something witty says:

Yeh, and I wanted to leave one more comment…

    You fuggin’ rock, mannn.

Even though I know that the cold will just leave my fingers blue and the ends of my trousers wet (this is the fact of snow) I’m still somewhat envious of even the fact you’re snowed in.

We’ve had so little snow this year in the UK and the subject seems to have been raised by people I know that have blogs in Norway, South Africa, Japan and across the USA.

There’s just something about leaving footprints in the virgin snow that you know can’t be repeated.

    Sigh.

If you’ve any spare snow you can always post it over… ;o)

Carpathian, at work in a snowless north-east England.

  30. Swinehund says:

Even though I live in Scotland and snow should be expected, we have none! It did snow slightly last week but didn’t stay long. I love it and wish I lived where snow lay.

When are Auf Der Maur coming back to Scotland?! We miss you!

Melissa, in my opinion digital cameras don’t take as good a picture but I have to admit it is handy. I will have to find out how to upload pictures and show you the what my backyard looked like when it was snowing last week, nothing like a winter wonderland though!

    Swinehund.

What’s up. Just wanted to say it’s awesome that you’re doing the whole blog thing. . . a great way to stay in touch with everyone. I saw you on the HIM tour this year, in Minneapolis. Great show, easily one of the greatest I’ve ever seen. I definately look forward to seeing you here again sometime, hopefully I’ll get to meet you next time.

    Oh Melissa, you vixen!
I actually signed up for this thing just to drop you a note lol.
Now I’ve forgotten why I wanted to leave you one…
Oh wait, yeah– SNOW. You’ve jinxed the east coast. lol Its a nightmare in my neck of the burbs.

Onto becoming the umpteenth person to stroke you ego:
The Music’s great but I love the lyrics most. Your voice has a great tone. Blah blah blah. Must sleep now.
    (Yep, that was pointless)

  36. Tristana says:

    Hi, Melissa.
How wonderful it was today to discover this blog.
I might not be original – I don’t wanna be original.
I really like your music, your way to play music, your voice, your songs… I like Indochine, too, and I was so happy when I first heard LE GRAND SECRET, which is one of the most beautiful songs of this band. I was just a little bit disppointed ’cause I never saw you on stage singing with Nicola, but as I didn’t come to Paris I think it’s totally normal you couldn’t do all the Indochine’s concerts.
What’s more… yes, this blog. Really great the first three posts. I hope it’s gonna go on, with great words as you always use :) I’d like someday to see French words, maybe ? ;)
Je vous embrasse, Melissa, et à très bientôt.

  37. Alejandro says:

ok…, first of all, I’m from Colombia, and english is still a little bit hard to me, so I hope you to understand.
You all, including Melissa, are talking about the snow, and the beautiful winter you’re living, but what can I say, here, in Bogotá, the sun is shining in an unbelievable way… God!, it’s hot in here!!
I have to thank Much Music Canada and Mucha Música Bogotá for leting me know about Auf der Maur.
    Have lots of luck!!!

  38. Jade says:

    heum special yeah!
I like this text Miss Auf der Maur!

  40. Austin says:

oh my god, I can’t believe that you have a blog – that’s bad ass. I saw you at the HIM show in Vegas, met you afterwards, and I swear you totally brightened my year.

At any rate, Snow is just a by product of living in a beautiful place (I’m assuming Montréal.) One can live where it doesn’t snow, but then you have to live in hella lame places (like Texas.)

Besides, sitting with your acoustic guitar I’m sure you can write some pretty bad ass songs for your next album :-D

  41. TRENT says:

Melly-Mel … you need to update more!

  42. Harold says:

Your voice is amazing, and I really love the videos.

  43. Nikki says:

you all talk about snow, the only thing I see is rain, rain, rain. Last week we got 2 days snow, but that was just nothing, only 1 cm. I’m looking forward to the summer, I hate this weather!
please check out http://www.krezip.com for a great band from Holland! Got pictures on http://niknak18.blogspot.com

Catch the snowball, children of the blizzards.
Cold Germany nowadays..-20 degrees Celsius..too low for some brains. Last night one tried to kiss a street light in our village..bad idea. A bit hot water freed the tongue…1 hour later.
So head on for the lightnings, but DON’T kiss the lights!

  45. Jaz says:

You know, this might sound incredibly sad, but I have never ever seen snow :( Atm, Australia is in the middle of summer and it is soooo hot here!! Very humid and not much of a breeze to make things cooler. And where I live in Australia, the coldest it gets in winter is about 13 degrees and I think that’s bloody cold!!! lol.

Am glad to hear that you have plans for the next album -I was quite pleasantly surprised by your album made sure I voted for the singles on Triple J’s Net 50 and Hottest 100 ;)

Keep posting – I like reading your posts, helps pass the time while waiting for uni to start up again for another year lol.

  46. LyricistJen26 says:

    Hello MAdM,
I love your creative take …lol
Snow blindness is one of those things that makes us realize that nature does have some power over us still. I love being outside after it has been dumping snow all day. Throw on some boots and go play! :0)

  47. tired_eyes4 says:

    I miss the snow. :)

I just wanted to say that your song “Follow the Waves” is inspiring me. A lot. to make changes that need to be made.

Thank You for rocking out :D

  48. Stinkerbelle Rock says:

Thank god it’s over and spring is finally here! This spoken sincerely from a Clevelander…. ugh… We broke our record for the most snow in the history of our city this year. Hopefully now we will break the record for the longest spring :)
